Provider & Distribution Networks
At BroadReach, we appreciate the enormous positive impacts that access to high quality healthcare has on populations and economies. Yet, even with healthcare spending at record levels (and rising rapidly), most health systems around the world are struggling to provide even the most basic element of healthcare to their people… widespread access to consistent, high quality primary and secondary care. We’re working to change that. Though our experience around the globe, we’ve come to realize it’s going to take imaginative thinking, creative new delivery models, and replicable, scalable systems to vastly improve access to high quality healthcare. We’ve learned that one must approach problems at scale from the outset… asking ourselves not “how can we open 10 clinics”, but rather “how can we deploy systems that can support 1000 clinics”. The “cottage industry” approach of launching one outlet, and then seeking to “scale it up”, simply does not work when faced with the massive numbers of people in need. By designing scalable models at the outset, we can train more caregivers, treat more patients, educate more people and deliver more care than ever before. We’ve had some promising initial successes in deploying these scaleable delivery systems. In Botswana, we designed a large scale system that could network and integrate public and private sector providers—establishing referral systems, using practical technology to monitor quality, and creating market based incentives to encourage productivity. In South Africa, we’ve organized a large network of primary care providers and have provided them the training, clinical decision support (through technology, disease management, and telemedicine), and financing and distribution systems that have enabled them to provide advanced HIV/AIDS care and antiretroviral treatment to patients previously lacking access. To achieve scale in high quality healthcare delivery, BroadReach is deploying creative strategies, leveraging innovative technologies, and harnessing proven systems from both within and outside the healthcare industry. These include:
At BroadReach, we’re building on these foundations and launching even bolder, larger scale initiatives that integrate provider networks, distribution, technology, and financing - working with innovative partners around the globe to increase access to high quality care for millions of people.
